update:
this is the last update before i leave tomorrow and probably the last one until after i arrive in taiwan. due to a stroke of extreme stupidity/forgetfulness/obliviousness, i'm not going to have power on the plane... except for my 2 and a half hour battery (the trip is about 14 hours). i was going to get an adapter that would let me plug in on the plane at least for the longer ride on the Continental flight from US to japan, but here i am, adapter-less and best buy is closed... rawr! guess that means i'll have to be much more creative in occupying my time (and my sister's). i think my mom's a little disappointed too... the idea was to watch dvds on my laptop or something. *sigh* anyway.. enough upset ranting. here's the real update...
funds: $270 ... craziness!!!!! that's from five college kids!! (sorry... you're all older than me... except jet ... haha! :P ) and what's more... every single one of you who got a letter (and some people who didn't) are all praying for me! thanks, friends. it really does mean a lot to me to know all my friends are praying for me. as panicked as i am ... it makes me feel better... and reminds me i'm surrounded by spiritual support. :)
prayer requests are about the same, with two additions:
- i still haven't heard back from my co-teacher of english. i don't know anything about what we're gonna do with that and no idea where she is either. we're going to be teaching college students at a university somewhere... so it'd be nice to have some prep.
- i'm genuinely concerned that playing bass will be physically challenging for me... those things are heavy! if you didn't know, i have some mild back problems. i'm worried that i won't be able to handle having a bass draped over my shoulder for that long.
thanks again, everyone. looking forward to seeing you all again, whenever (and wherever) that might be.

update:
total funds: $160
"not much" says my friend... but she's right when she says it'll at least get me a couple meals in TW :P (probably more than a couple, actually) and it's plenty considering all of my supporters are college kids... hehe. thanks friends. i still haven't finished the last testimony or learned the evangelism techniques yet :\ *looks at ground* on the other hand, i'm probably bringing my laptop up to TW with me, so i'll be able to keep you all updated a little while longer. i doubt i'll be able to go online from Puli, but judging from my lack of knowledge of any goings on there, who knows? it'll be awesome if i can. :) hasn't been that long since my last update, so the prayer requests are still the same.
thanks again friends :)

Don't Worry - Rebecca St. James
On the corner of Fifth and Broadway
I was walking to the grocery store on Third
I saw a man up on a box
He seemed a little unorthodox
He was preaching up a storm
I passed on by and he said
Don't worry about your life
Cause if you hold it too close you'll lose it
Don't worry about your life
So won't you let go
Before it's gone
A little further on I saw a beggar on the street
He asked for change and then gives me his life story
Says he was a millionaire, made some bad decisions there
Now a dollar fifty would feed him for a week
And he said
Don't worry about your life
Cause if you hold it too close you'll lose it
Don't worry about your life
So won't you let go
Before it's gone
Then I see the birds
I watch them fly
They've got everything they need
They show me why I can be free
Knowing You will care for me
Finally at the grocery store
My mind is filled with many thoughts
As I bump into a girl I knew from high school
She said "What's different about you girl?"
And I smiled and said this is what I know is true
And I pass it right along to you
Don't worry about your life
Cause if you hold it too close you'll lose it
Don't worry about your life
So won't you let go
Before it's gone
good song. trying to let go.
